In a quiet and reserved at equidistance between Greve in Chianti and Figline Valdarno the property is located in stone. This luxury villa completely independent is located in a strategic position on a hill and is reached along a dirt road for 800 meters, interspersed with vineyards and olive groves and woods of Tuscany. The central part of the house dates back to 1000 as a watchtower of Lucolena Castle and was enlarged during the Renaissance to be a way station on the road between Florence and Siena.
The main villa has four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, plus the attic, with two single beds, offer availability for 11 people. On the ground floor of the same there is a large living room with fireplace, a dining room and a fully equipped kitchen. The surface of 480 square meters of the villa offers spacious and balanced spaces for recreation, relaxation and privacy for its guests.

Simplicity is central to the Tuscan cuisine. Legumes, bread, cheese, vegetables, mushrooms and fresh fruit are used. Olive oil is made up of Moraiolo, Leccino and Frantoiano olives. White truffles from San Miniato appear in October and November. Beef of the highest quality comes from the Chiana Valley, specifically a breed known as Chianina used for Florentine steak. Pork is also produced. Wine is a famous and common produce of Tuscany. Chianti is arguably the most well-known internationally. So many British tourists come to the area where Chianti wine is produced that this specific area has been nicknamed "Chiantishire".
The villa has a large (25,000 square meters) and articulated park. It is spread in several terraces, all enriched and framed dry walls. Among the various ups and downs, tiered terraces offer beautiful glimpses of the hills below. Part of the property is covered hill typical forest of 'Apennines: chestnut, oak and arbutus; part is cultivated with olive trees and garden. The good taste of Mr. Rich, the Englishman who bought the property at the beginning of the 70's and provided to its restoration, enables the presence of a wide variety of flowering plants and fruit trees, a small pond of goldfish and plants roses that color and perfume every corner of the villa. Remain the flowers, so many and colorful, which vary from season to season.
We spent one week at villa Giardo in June. We just loved the ambiance, Silvia and Stefano have created a beautiful oasis in Tuscany. All the photos and descriptions don't do the villa justice. The last half mile of driving is not for the faint of heart, but worth it! Plus, we saw cinghale (wild boar) mamas and babies twice at night on our way home! By all means see if Silvia and Stefano can fix you a dinner, it was one of our our best meals in Italy. They also can send you to restaurants all over the place, and did not steer us wrong once! We sure hope to be able to come back - and Mille Grazie Silvia and Stefano, it was such a great anniversary week for us and our kids!Erna S, Bozeman

Our entire adult family, consisting of three couples rented Il Giardo for a week. The pictures on the website do not do the place justice. The villa accommodated us all extremely well and our hosts were so helpful as well. Each bedroom has it's own full bathroom. Additionally there are multiple places for people to sit, congregate, read. And eat. The grounds are simply stunning and beautifully kept. The owner, Silvia, will arrange to cook dinner for guests if it is arranged ahead of time. We did this and the five course meal with wines and digestifs was simply wonderful and prepared with great care. Additionally, the villa is decorated with great care and attention to detail. I simply can't imagine a more wonderful place for a family vacation.Beth C.
